Bring our projects and visual identity to life and explore the role of animation and interaction in wayfinding.
What you’ll do with us
Are you a creative thinker with a passion for animation and interaction? Do you want to use your skills to make complex stories understandable and engaging? Then this internship is for you.
As an Animation intern, you’ll help visualize our wayfinding projects for airports, museums, and cities, among others. These projects can sometimes be abstract or complex – your task is to translate them into a clear and compelling story. Using animation and interactive elements, you’ll highlight all facets of the project: from the initial strategic and analytical considerations to the final result.
You’ll experiment with different forms of interaction and explore how to present content in an innovative way – always with an eye on applicability and accessibility. The goal? To take a broad audience along in our thinking and approach in a visual and intuitive way.
You’ll also help develop our visual identity further, where animation and interaction play an increasingly important role. You’ll actively contribute ideas on how we can strengthen and enrich our style in the digital context.
Additionally, you’ll research what animation and interaction can mean for wayfinding in a broader sense: how can moving images and interactive applications contribute to better orientation and experience in space?
The creations you make will be used on our website, in presentations, and other communication channels. You’ll have the freedom to discover, create, and put your own stamp on projects that truly impact how people move and orient themselves in public spaces.
You’ll work from our studio in Amsterdam, together with a collective of wayfinding specialists with diverse backgrounds – from graphic design, architecture and data to digital media, environmental psychology, art and information design. In this multidisciplinary team, we combine our knowledge and creativity to approach complex spatial challenges in an innovative way.
This is who we are
Mijksenaar is a design agency with a rich tradition in Dutch Design, a global reach and an international mindset with studios in Amsterdam and New York. Our expertise lies in developing innovative information strategies and design for public spaces and environments.

This way, we enable people to intuitively navigate through their daily routines, reduce stress during commuting, increase efficiency in offices, improve commercial activities at airports and train stations, and make culture ultimately accessible.
This is what you bring
You have strong visual insight and know how to translate complex and abstract information in a clear, appealing way. You work independently, but also actively seek collaboration and know how to inspire others with your ideas about visual communication. Additionally, you’re not afraid to experiment and enjoy searching for innovative solutions.
What else are we looking for?
- Student at a vocational or university of applied sciences program in visual communication, graphic design, multimedia
- Portfolio with visual work around animation and interaction
- Technical proficiency in software such as Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Figma and experience with AI tools
- The ability to structure information and tell it in an attractive interactive way (storytelling)
This is what we offer you
- An internship position of 3 to 6 months
- A work week of 37.5 hours
- An internship allowance of €450 per month
- Public transport cost reimbursement with a maximum based on route card and by consultation
Do you recognize yourself in this and are you ready to put your creative talents to work within our team? Then we invite you to apply! Send your CV and portfolio to us and who knows, we might welcome you soon as our new colleague. Do you have questions?
Feel free to contact us!
As a design collective we’re always on the outlook for people that are interested in what we do and have a talent we are missing.
