Maastricht University – digital advice
Maastricht University is the most internationally oriented university in the Netherlands. It caters to more than 16,000 students and employs more than 3,500 people, and the numbers are still growing.
The university library already has a wayfinding system of static signs combined with an online index of destinations at its disposal.
Mijksenaar assessed whether this system was fit for use in the other university buildings and explored the role digital media can play in navigating the campus.
Mijksenaar’s advise was to preserve the system of static signage, as it is useful to all campus visitors. Additionally, visitors using a smartphone are offered an app for indoor navigation.
