Wandering in a cultural phenomenon
Museums are places for the discovery of art and history. Mijksenaar has advised cultural institutions worldwide, to help visitors navigate through museums without losing their way.
In early 2016, Mijksenaar received a noteworthy commission for the development of a digital strategy for the General Staff Building in Saint Petersburg.
The Dance welcomes you
Three LED screens behind the second floor windows, above the entrance, greatly increase the attention level of the entrance. These screens display moving images of art works characteristic for the General Staff Building. It also offers an opportunity to create additional attention for temporary exhibitions.
Inside, animations prompt art lovers to discover the expansive collection. Digital index screens display paintings by famous artists, such as Monet, Renoir, and Matisse’s The Dance. Animated projections lead visitors towards the museum galleries and temporary exhibitions, where they can wander through an extraordinary world of European art from the 19th and 20th centuries.
