An integrated wayfinding philosophy
Dutch Railways Completion: 2015
At Arnhem Central Station, various types of public transport come together: national and international trains, high speed trains, and city, regional and express buses.
Mijksenaar advised architects UNStudio on wayfinding in and around the building. We developed an integrated philosophy for the presentation of information to passengers, based on the optimization of sightlines and pedestrian routes and the reservation of zones for different facilities.
During the Master Planning phase, we worked closely with the Psychonomics Department at the University of Utrecht, as well as Arup (transport planning) and Bureau B+B (landscape architects).
