‘Tuinen van West has acquired its own identity’
Municipality of Amsterdam Period: 2015–2016
The Tuinen van West is a recreational area in the north-west of Amsterdam, that consists of 4 existing polders. In addition to nature, aspects such as sports and recreation, arts and culture, urban agriculture play an important role. Tuinen van West is a locality of choice for local products and restaurants.
We worked closely with the municipality of Amsterdam and the area’s partners on questions as: what are your dreams and concerns for this project. The outcome was the basis of the wayfinding strategy.
During the opening event, councillor Ronald Mauer revealed the project and expressed his satisfaction: ‘The signage looks good, fitting, and complete.’
The project team was content: ‘Tuinen van West has acquired an own identity with Mijksenaar’s wayfinding system.’
